Thursday, August 13, 2009 was an all day workshop for teachers and faculty at school. Friday, August 14, 2009 was a half day with students and an afternoon workshop. During the workshop, there was plenty of discussion on Differentiated Instruction. I really don't see how this is any different than the way other teachers and I have been teaching the last few years, but it is the new thing for the No Child Left Behind Act and the new program Response to Intervention.
Monday was the first full day with the kids and it was long, but I think the year will be OK anyway. I am starting the year off differently by explaining more about what is RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, ATTENTION, and things that go into make a class run smoother, and I won't have to do all of the clean up and work. We will see how well that goes for me. It is tough for me to not pick up what they get out to keep the room cleaner, but I think they need to take more RESPONSIBILITY when it comes to what they get out.
